What to Watch on Nationwide Claims

Nationwide is generally fair on simple claims. Two things to watch on more complex damage:

Aftermarket parts: Nationwide defaults aftermarket on most parts. Push for OEM on luxury vehicles, EVs, and any vehicle under 24,000 miles.
Total loss decisions: Nationwide totals cars at slightly lower thresholds than some insurers. If your car is borderline, an independent estimate often saves it.

Recover Diminished Value

Most collision repairs take 1–3 weeks depending on damage severity and parts availability. Heavier structural damage on luxury or EV vehicles can run 4–6 weeks. You get a free rental car for the entire time your vehicle is in the shop, so you stay mobile.

If you were not at fault, filing a third-party claim against the at-fault driver typically does not raise your premium. If you were at fault and file under collision coverage, your rate may increase at renewal. Comprehensive claims (theft, vandalism, weather) usually do not raise rates.

Our partner shops offer deductible assistance programs to help cover some or all of your out-of-pocket cost. The amount depends on your repair total and shop. If you were not at fault, you typically don't owe a deductible at all — the at-fault driver's insurance covers the full repair.
